You can be sure that you have yeast infection if you are suffering from any of the following three symptoms that are specific to the infection.
Soreness: this is an unmistakable and obvious sign of yeast infection. You will experience soreness in the affected area that will cause burning sensations and itching. The lining of your vagina is irritated and you will feel discomfort and sometimes intense pain while urinating. In some cases the symptom gets worse to such an extent that it is not even possible to walk. This soreness will also cause discomfort and pain during sexual intercourse.
Discharge: though yeast infections cause discharge only in about 20% of the affected women, it is a symptom that is specific to the infection. The discharge can be clear, white or yellowish in color and can be thick or thin in consistency. In some extreme cases the discharge can be a thick white clump.
There may be no discharge in some cases, but the affected area becomes sore and cause great discomfort.
Odor: yeast infections have a distinct odor. This starchy odor is similar to that you get from bread. This is because, as the name indicates, the infection is caused by a form of yeast fungus called Candida. Mostly this symptom of odor appears along with the discharge.
